Instrumentation & Electrician Technician

Job Description:

Crysalis Biosciences, Inc. is seeking a motivated Instrumentation and Electrical Technician to join our growing team. As an I&E Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating plant-wide electrical and instrumentation systems. You will work together with our team to ensure safe and efficient equipment operations that support maximum production quality and output. Our technicians work with industrial electrical systems, PLC/DCS platforms, instrumentation devices, and control systems within a manufacturing and/or processing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the plant maintenance program to repair or replace equipment and systems during scheduled or emergency maintenance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities as required.
  • Follow safe working practices, including permitting, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and applicable FSMA programs, and engage in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with operations and shipping/receiving teams to complete scheduled repair work.
  • Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting maintenance-related issues.
  • Support new equipment installation and special projects assigned by supervisors.
  • Help monitor the reliability and performance of equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, external contractors, and IT departments to install new systems or upgrade equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with city, county, state, and federal maintenance regulations.
  • Maintain flexibility for overtime or respond to call-ins when necessary.
  • Participate in plant turnarounds and general cleanliness programs.
  • Complete work orders accurately and on time.
  • Apply company safe work practices consistently.
  • Help monitor supply usage and working inventory of process chemicals and supplies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or higher in Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial electrical or instrumentation maintenance experience.
  • Journeyman Electrician license preferred.
  • ISA certification is considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in PLC/DCS troubleshooting and programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with VFDs, transmitters, sensors, and control valves.
  • Experience in a dry-mill ethanol plant or similar industrial environment preferred.

Maintenance Technician

In this role, you will help ensure operational excellence by performing a variety of maintenance duties and responding to service requests. Our maintenance technicians work to ensure proper equipment operation and support overall facility maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and replace defective parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and systems.
  • Repair machines, equipment, or structural components.
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical/electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
  • Order necessary parts, supplies, or equipment.
  • Plan and lay out repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematics.

Process Operator

Our process operators are responsible for the operation of our computer-controlled process equipment, manual machinery, evaluation of process problems that may arise, and documenting process parameters. In addition, you will be a vital part of the team to help ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control plant operations.
  • Constantly review the plant operation, control the process, ensure quality product is produced, anticipate and solve problems, and help identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in projects to improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Maintain records of key production variables (including production volume, yield, plant uptime, and utility consumption)
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with QA to ensure effective participation in QA programs related to sampling and testing process streams and products

Crysalis Biosciences, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled QA/QC Lab Technician who will be responsible for assisting with implementing and maintaining our plant’s quality assurance program. This role is critical to help ensure consistent product quality and operational excellence. In this position, you will support our company's goals and compliance standards by testing, analyzing data, and driving process improvement initiatives by conducting tests to determine the quality of materials and finished products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement QA/QC programs based on ethanol industry best practices through process sampling and laboratory testing of in-process materials or finished goods.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory chemicals and supplies.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments, including HPLC, GC, and IC.
  • Prepare technical reports, analyze data, interpret rest results, and recommend process adjustments to maintain quality standards.

Crysalis Biosciences, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Manager for our Maintenance department. In this role, you will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of our maintenance department. While collaborating with our engineering and manufacturing groups, you will help ensure the successful completion of any maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, or installation of new systems. We are seeking a "safety-first" and “hands-on” mindset to fit into our self-motivated team. In this role, you will be a technical resource who provides and shares expertise on equipment and options to improve maintenance and operating practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the maintenance team across safety, planning, TPM/reliability, cost, efficiency, quality, and labor utilization.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the plant’s overall preventive and predictive maintenance programs utilizing a CMMS system.
  • Implement reliability best practices to ensure dependability and efficiency by analyzing process concerns and performance gaps, and allocating resources to resolve manufacturing and maintenance issues, while minimizing cost and preventing operational delays.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and supervise corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance (PM, PdM) in accordance with company safety procedures.
  • Champion the creation of and attainment of maintenance departmental goals, Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), and budget
  • Evaluate long-term needs in relation to major projects and property improvements and make recommendations to Management.
  • Ensures spare parts and critical equipment lists are maintained and stocked
  • Seek, develop, implement, and facilitate training programs for all Maintenance personnel.
  • Provide monthly progress reports to the Plant Manager.
  • Provide a safe working environment for all employees by ensuring all safety programs are followed, such as Lock-out Tag-out, Hot Work Permits, Confined
  • Space Entry, Housekeeping Inspections, OSHA Inspections, Safety Bulletin, General Safety, and Respiratory Protection Safety Programs.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance management, including leadership experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of advanced equipment maintenance tracking software applications, safety standards programs, and formal building maintenance programs.
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Practitioner (CMRP) certificate or other maintenance and reliability coursework desired.

Skills & Technical Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of PSM programs, Safety, and Regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working in Solvent processing, Ethanol, or Ag processing is highly preferred.
  • Expertise in maintenance practices for industrial conveyors (belt, screw, drag), grain elevators, pumps (centrifugal, PD, gear), valves and instrumentation, tanks and agitation, grain mills and centrifuges, etc.
  • Ability and proficiency with cost/benefit analysis and capital expenditure justification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the maintenance processes and proper use of the work order system (CMMS), planning and scheduling, and storeroom processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in facility maintenance management, staff supervision, budgeting, and maintenance training.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
